# General, notifications, proxy, and appearance

> Set language, notifications, network proxy, theme, and About information.

This Settings area collects daily preferences: interface language, desktop notifications, network proxy, visual theme, and application information.

## General: language

Choose either **Chinese** or **English** for the Otterflow interface. The change applies immediately to both the main and Settings windows; no restart is required.

## Notifications

Notifications help you notice completed compilation jobs, finished AI work, and other important events.

### Global controls

* **Desktop notifications** is the master switch.
* **Notify only when in background** suppresses notifications while the window is active.

### Notification level

Choose one of four levels:

| Level | Behavior |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------ |
| All | Allow every notification |
| Normal and above | Hide low-priority notifications |
| High priority | Show high-priority notifications and above |
| Critical only | Show only critical notifications |

### Category controls

Enable or disable individual categories: compilation status, AI work succeeded, AI work failed, and long-running task notifications.

### Sound and webhook delivery

Turn on a notification sound if desired. For advanced automation, enter a webhook URL and send a test notification to confirm that the delivery channel works.

System Focus or Do Not Disturb settings can still suppress desktop notifications.

## Proxy

Choose **No proxy**, **Use system proxy**, or **Use custom proxy**. A custom proxy entry supports protocol, server address, port (1–65535), bypass addresses, optional authentication, and an IPv6 option.

Its status can be **Not enabled**, **Connected**, **Reconnecting**, or **Checking**. Proxy entries are stored locally on the machine; use multiple entries to switch networks when needed.

## Appearance

Choose **Light**, **Dark**, **System**, or **Hammer**. Hammer is a warm, paper-textured theme intended for a quieter reading feel.

## About

The About page shows the application version and update controls, plus links to the official website and community. Developer mode is for diagnosis and advanced troubleshooting; normal users should leave it off. It exposes an **Extensions** panel for low-level capabilities such as Office MCP status and health logs.
